Multicultural Awareness
Exposing students to the following examples of multicultural awareness:
World Geography
Civics
World Geography
- Multinational corporations that are recognized as examples of American culture and diffused throughout the world.
- Which groups of settlers colonized the United States, Canada, Mexico, and many of the surrounding island countries
- Cultural characteristics of locations in North America, such as Quebec, that speak different languages than the United States
- Explaining the many ethnicities and cultures, particularly the predominant ones, that make up present-day Europe
- Explaining and detailing the current religious conflicts that serve to divide Europeans
- Recounting the decimation of the Polish Jews, and the razing of Warsaw to the ground during World War II
Civics
- Relating the Electoral College system's fairness by each individual state's population to one person, one vote, not like the practices of pre-Civil War America, where non-whites were often counted as only 3/5 of a vote, when asked by students why larger states received (Unfairly in their minds) more electoral votes based on population.
